Cruising up the State to Oregon 2014

Hello everyone.  Wolfgang and I hopped into the car this year for road trip up through Central California to Oregon and then back home along the coast.  Although everything is REALLY dry and there isn't much water anywhere, we enjoyed it all.  So it's more pictures than words so it shouldn't take too long to view.

First stop big trees!
Never saw one but we drove slow.
We hiked up the other side of Moro Rock.  Didn't seem to be a bad idea at first but the altitude and height was a little much.

Finally made it to the top.
We only had time to see the Sherman.  Poor General Grant.  Maybe next time.

It's hard to believe that there are trees bigger than this.

Found some water along the way
Can't go to Sequoia without driving through a tree.
He's on the tall side.
Seeing nature is always wonderful.

The yellow in this granite was spectacular.

Did you hear the one about the guy in a tree?

Off we went to Yosemite, land of granite.
This is our picture of Yosemite.  It is unique because there is no water coming down Bridalveil Falls.
Think that there isn't a drought in California, visit our parks and look at the lakes and resevoirs - NO WATER

Breathe in the fresh air!

Two young men strutting their stuff.
Took a ride over the pass and enjoyed the views.

Picture perfect weather.
Have you ever seen a Blue Grouse?
Visiting the Ahwahnee is a must when you are in Yosemite.
Enjoyed a late breakfast before heading out of the park.

Finally a good picture of a Stellar's Jay.
Nice tail.
Heading up through the Gold Country of central California.
The Palmdale bulge isn't all San Andreas' Fault. The name of our main earthquake fault in Southern California is named San Andreas.

This guy saw me coming.
Visited a gold mine in Placerville.

This guy made me the most wonderful ring from a horseshoe nail.  Called it a Prairie Diamond.  Wolfgang wished he knew about them about 12 years ago.
A wonderful park we stopped by on our way to Oregon.
Guys salmon fishing.
TURTLES!
Mt. Shasta.
Little place we stopped for break along the way.
Out to have Pizza with Lorraine and Bill.  Great Pizza and handsome men.  Those lucky sisters.
Lorraine feeding the neighbors.
Getting ready for Fall.
Went with Lorraine and Bill to a beautiful canyon lined with Waterfalls.  Walking down was great.  Should of had bus service for the way back!

There are many parts of this picture that proves that we are related!
Pruning the apple tree in the little orchard.
Bill the bee keeper.  Pretty cool!
Something never allowed in Southern California, burning stuff.  Strangely fun.
Went to this lovely winery with Lorraine and Bill.  Perfect weather and a wonderful view.

Hey when it's there, you've got to do it.
Heading down the coast.  Beautiful but VERY long.

An old California Bear on a back road through the Redwoods.
Can't tell how big these guys are until....
You make people stand in front of them.

A place we visited because of watching Huell Howser.  Thanks Huell for some great places to visit along the way.

The Lost Coast road outside of Ferndale.  Have lots of time, patience and a full tank of gas!
Wild Turkey!

Driving through Mendocino.

Stopping over to visit Dion.  Always wonderful to see her.

Elephant Seals!
Hearst Castle.
Last night before home in Cambria.

Where he died.

A great little restaurant in Taft.  We will be visiting it again.
Made it home.
A great trip over all.  We saw beautiful country and got to visit with people we loved.  What more is there?
