Storchenfest 2010 (Stork Festival)

Hey everyone,

Well we had our Stork Festival once again this year and it was great. The weather was perfect, warm with a nice breeze, great food, beer, homemade apple wine and homemade cakes sold by the piece. All in all we made a little money for the club but had a great time. This year, we have 4 baby storks. They are even on YouTube this year. Here is the link if you want to see it. file:///C:/Users/Henning/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/Content.Outlook/VEQU0WVQ/Storchenberingung%20%282%29.htm . You will need to cut and paste this location. and I would like to thank Dieter Seibel for putting it on You Tube so I can share it will all of you. It shows our babies while they are getting their ID rings.

So here are a few pictures of the festival. Please enjoy and just so you know, yes the cakes taste as good as they look and they are all made from women around our town.

Grill that wurst and they will come, usually on a bike!

24 cakes this year. Sold every piece.
Here are the Cakehouse ladies, Sarah, Annmarie and Renate.

Ladies with the same name. Most of you know the one on the right. This is Roswitha and Rosi.
Roswitha has the most incredible green thumb. She has made a garden at the bird club with only wildflowers. It is beautiful.

This is the food area before the party really got started. We are always lucky that Rosi and Günther's son is our cook. He is an professional chef. The butcher that provided the steaks told Wolfgang that he never knew his steaks could taste that good. We are very lucky to have Markus and his fabulous assistant cooks Maria, Tom and Rosi.

No matter where it is, everyone always hangs out in the kitchen.
This is actually where we sold cake but it worked the same way.
Our friend Paul is no fool, hang out with the women and the food.

The following are just some random shots during the day.

Notice the Stork nest in the background. They always seem to enjoy the festival too.

The man in the sunglasses on the right is Wolfgang's nephew, his wife and son.

We also had pony riding.

And the real celebrities of the day, our storks.

The aftermath. All of us sitting around relaxing. In addition to apple wine, the club now makes their own apple schnapps or Calvados. It's actually very good. Here is the toast for a great fest.

The Guys. These are the men of the Vogelclub. I think that they should make a calendar!
So that is our Stork Festival for 2010. We will have it again in June in 2011. Let us know if you will be able to make it. We would love to have you, but you may have to work.
